Casual Sailing

What We Do

This year's Casual Sailing is going to be a bit different from previous years. There will be 5 different types of sessions which will help in improving your sailing skills. We have made a deal with the University Watersports Centre to get over 50% discount on their RYA Dinghy Sailing courses. These sessions types are going to be:

  • Taster - Everyone without any certificate of competence will be required to join these sessions at first. Tasters will be similar to last year's sessions. These will be to have fun with sailing and to get to know what sailing is.

  • Beginners - These sessions will teach you the basics of sailing required to pass RYA Dinghy Level 1, Start Sailing.

  • New Learners - These sessions will help you progress to RYA Dinghy Level 2, Basic Skills.

  • Improvers - These sessions will help you to improve your skill further up to RYA Dinghy Level 3, Better Sailing.

  • Advanced - These sessions will be at the Southampton Sailing Club with RS200 boats. To join these sessions RS200 introduction from the University Watersports Centre and the transportation to SSC is going to be required.

Beside these advanced sessions, we might be able to help you in getting Dinghy Instructor, Senior Instructor and Powerboat Level 2 qualifications in exchange for some voluntary work in organising Taster, Beginners and New Learners sessions.
